Test Specimen Molds

Miniature Plastic Molding works with local mold makers to supply finished ASTM and ISO test specimen molds. These molds are typically made of P20 or 304 SS. They are supplied with a hardened sprue plate that is highly polished and plated with chrome.

Pictured above is a 2”x 2” test mold for clarity tests on PET material. Notice the vent lines. This mold also has cooling channels for cold water circulation in both halves of the mold. This mold was made from 304 SS, polished and chrome plated over the molding area.

Pictured above is ½ of a mold for a D638 Type I test specimen. This mold was made using a 4140 mold blank. The “part” portion of the mold was polished and chrome plated.

Pictured above is a test specimen mold for the ASTM D256 and ISO 180 Impact tests.
